Unhelpful...

One of the worst people are those who never discuss and can only be condescending. It is bothersome and difficult to cope.

One way dialogue is no different from a lecture and speech. However to have a person with such a personality compounds the problem because they do not wish to listen to the explanation of others as there is only one way: Their Way. The easiest recourse is to ignore the person and cut off all relations. Sadly, for numerous people it is a relative or close individual. Do you treat the relative no different than another after you become an adult or do you try to mend things? It is troublesome at the very least.

Condescending tone can be by characteristic or on purpose. Those who do it on purpose do so to put down another. Those who do it as a characteristic are unfortunate. Constant contact eats away at the relationships between people as bad habits annoying others. Recognition and acknowledging it is helpful only to the extent of allowances of understanding.

Combining the two is disastrous. There is no polite way to inform the individual that they are sounding condescending as they do not accept other dialogue. They do not recognize or are willing to acknowledge other critiques. It's akin to listening to all and acknowledging none while demeaning others with the speech. How is it any different from listening to a hate speech directed at you and being unable to do anything about it?

To speak ones mind freely and impersonally to all.
To spread ideas and thoughts.
To discuss and meditate.

Or...

To question and ponder the intrigues of the world.

To discuss ideas and conceptualize the processes in which things can be done.

etc etc...
